sorry–no dice here–the ONLY way to get the look you want is to strip, sand, & seal–unless you want to paint them–but you will still have to prepare them for painting–if you dont want to spend the time and work–just put carpet over them. If you DO choose to refinish them–you will be amazed at the difference in the look!
