Renaissance Chicago North Shore Awarded Aaa Four-diamond Rating

The Renaissance Chicago North Shore Hotel has been awarded the prestigious AAA Four-Diamond Award for the fifth consecutive year. Ed Buckley, general manager for the property and Toni Kinsel, the director of sales, will attend a luncheon on June 2, 2008, to accept the award. Located at 933 Skokie Boulevard in Northbrook, Ill., the hotel is one of only six Chicago suburban properties to receive the Four-Diamond rating for 2008. The property is managed by Davidson Hotel Company, one of the nation’s largest hotel management companies.
The award’s stringent criteria are based on a superior level of quality throughout the hotel, an extensive array of amenities and a high degree of hospitality, service and attention to detail. Since garnering the 2007 award last year, the Chicago hotel has been further enhanced as a result of a million major renovation that included case goods for 385 rooms, expanding and purchasing new equipment for the fitness center, completely renovating 241 bathrooms, refinishing all bathtub units, replacing167 heat/ac units and installing 63 triple-pane windows and frames on the highway side of the building for energy conservation and noise abatement.
All of our upscale Chicago guest rooms also received the new “Renaissance Shower” package, which includes a Kohler “Forte” showerhead, curved rod and stainless curtain hooks.
“While the renovations have enhanced an already outstanding property, they are only a component of what has made us a AAA Four Diamond hotel five years in a row,” said Ed Buckley, general manager. “We continue to make service our central focus through such programs as ‘Savvy Service’ and ‘Renaissance Basics’ that emphasize different aspects of service each day and each week. In addition, we have developed a ‘Problem-Free Stay’ team to analyze and solve process and operational issues at the hotel. We also have a very low employee turnover rate, which helps ensure consistency in the quality of service we deliver. Achieving quality is admirable; achieving consistent quality is a laudable accomplishment.”
Located off I-94, the 10-story hotel is designed to accommodate groups of more than 400 people in its 18 meeting rooms for business, two 4,000 square-foot ballrooms great for wedding reception and the Greenery, a distinctive event space on the hotel’s top floor with floor-to-ceiling windows offering panoramic views of downtown Chicago’s skyline. The property regularly serves corporate functions, including meetings, banquets and corporate holiday parties, as well as social events such as weddings and bar/bat mitzvahs in their 22,000 square feet of meeting space.
