What is the best material to lay between the wood and linoleum (ie. foam or cork, etc…) any suggestions and or tips before I start?! the linoleum is in great shape just ugly. Thanks!!!!

just put regular underlayment – like rosin paper under the wood, you don’t need anything fancy.
