Question by Erin K: Any tips for spot finishing old wood floors? I live in an older apartment building probably built in the 60's that has old wood floors. I'd like to refinish a couple spots that i have damaged (leaky potted plants). I purchased a fast drying polyurethane clear gloss, some sand paper and a couple sponge applicators. i've finished some wood before but never had to match preexisting finish. 1) is this the right color polyurethane (gloss is most common yes?)? 2) any tips for keeping the look consistent with the undamaged floor around it? If they floors are really old (pre 1970) they are most like finished with a varnish. A polyurethane finish will not match. -Brian
